However, there are very early train connections from Edinburgh to Elgin. You can then tour Speyside and then be back on the train to Edinburgh in the evening if you are very short of time.
Your itinerary could include the more well known Speyside Distilleries of Macallan, Glenlivet, Aberlour, Glenfiddich and the less well know such as Benromach and GlenAllachie.
The train service in Scotland is known as Scotrail and there are regular trains north to Elgin (and Forres and Keith) from Edinburgh, Glasgow, Aberdeen and Dundee.

Lots of whisky enthusiasts want to take a whisky tour from Edinburgh that includes a visit or tour of Macallan Distillery. Unfortunately Macallan is only open to visitors on a very limited basis and is by appointment only. If there is a possibility of a tour or visit becoming available on one of your tour dates, it might be possible to "leave space" for Macallan however, this can usually only be part of a two or three day tour. There is no guarantee of securing Macallan Tour tickets as there is such high demand.
