Speyside Whisky Tours from Edinburgh or Glasgow
We are often asked whether our Speyside Whisky Tours depart from Edinburgh or Glasgow. Unfortunately they don't. However, if you are wanting to come to Speyside, you can be here in about 4.5 hours by train or car!
You could leave Edinburgh or Glasgow by train around lunchtime and be in your hotel in Elgin (Speyside) for dinner time. Start your private Speyside Whisky Tour the next day. Your itinerary could include the more well known Speyside Distilleries of Macallan, Aberlour, Glenfiddich and the less well know such as Benromach.
You might prefer to stay in Inverness and take a Speyside Whisky Tour from Inverness. This means a longer drive into Speyside but may suit your itinerary on other days. In addition the Perth to Inverness train line stops at Aviemore. This will mean a longer drive in as well to the main concentration of Speyside distilleries.
The train service in Scotland is known as Scotrail and there are regular trains north to Elgin (and Forres and Keith).
As an example but always check the current timetable at Scotrail as it is subject to change.
Depart Edinburgh Waverley 1202 and arrive Elgin Railway Station (in Speyside) at 1701.
Depart Glasgow Queen Street 1209 and arrive Elgin Railway Station at 1610.
The next day, do a full day Speyside Whisky Tour.
We offer one, two or three day whisky tours. We can send you a whisky a draft itinerary for your consideration. There's no obligation to book. Take a look at our Speyside Whisky Distillery Map to give you an idea of the possible distillery visits.
